About The Competition

The Social Entrepreneurship Competition in Tourism is the first worldwide competition focusing on social innovation and entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality.


By giving social entrepreneurs access to expert knowledge, a mentoring program and international visibility, the competition aims provide strong support for social tourism entrepreneurs and their efforts to help to transform the sector and shape a sustainable future for tourism in their destination.


The Competition was founded in 2019 by Professor Dr. Claudia Brözel from the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, with founding partners ITB Berlin, Berlin Travel Festival and Travel Massive.


In 2024, the Social Entrepreneurship Competition in Tourism is supported by booking.com, Amadeus, Lufthansa City Center, Travel Massive, the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, SINA, ITB Berlin, Teejit, and WIIF.

LAUNCH TRACK

For entrepreneurs with innovative ideas they want to work on in the future.

GROWTH TRACK

For entrepreneurs with existing projects they want to develop further. 


Sustainable Development Goals

The structure of the competition is based on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals and aims to contribute to achieving the goals of quality education, gender equality, decent work, and economic growth as well as industry, innovation and infrastructure.

Strong Network of Partners

The Competition is powered by strong industry partners providing resources and a relevant reach for the initiatives.

Mentoring & Coaching

Up to 10 finalists will receive eight weeks of both 1-on-1 and peer-to-peer mentoring & coaching sessions. You can see the current Mentoring team of the Competition.


The mentoring sessions will focus on pitch training, human-centred design, business modelling, and impact measurement.
